Every Shinobu Kocho katana we ship begins as a length of 1060 carbon steel at our partner forge in Longquan, made to order rather than pulled off a shelf. For Demon Slayer collectors, the Insect Hashira's sword, the one fans simply call the butterfly blade, is a piece that anchors a display.

Measurements and Fittings

Exactly what arrives, no guesswork:

  • Steel: 1060 carbon steel
  • Overall length: 105 cm (41 in)
  • Blade: 72 cm (28 in) long, 3.2 cm (1.2 in) across at the broadest point, 0.7 cm (0.27 in) thick
  • Handle: 30 cm (11.8 in), cotton ito wrapped over textured synthetic rayskin
  • Guard and cord: iron tsuba with a cotton sageo
  • Construction: full tang, one piece of steel running through the grip
  • Edge: sharpened or unsharpened, chosen when you pick your variant

The Butterfly Blade of the Insect Hashira

Shinobu Kocho is remembered for poise rather than brute force, and this replica honours that quiet strength with understated fittings and a balance that rewards careful handling. It is a fan-made tribute, not an officially licensed product, and it suits display stands, cosplay and non-contact practice equally well. Curious how her weapon fits into the wider lore? Start with our Nichirin blade guide.

Made to Order for Australian Collectors

Nothing here sits in a warehouse. Once you order, our partner workshop in Longquan forges and assembles your katana over 5 to 20 business days, then it travels to your door with tracked delivery anywhere in Australia. Customs duties or GST may apply on arrival; those charges are set by Australian authorities, not by us.

Round Out the Display

Browse the full Demon Slayer katana range, or cross into other series with the Hyorinmaru from Bleach and Vergil's Yamato, both built in the same 1060 carbon steel.

Before You Order

Is it legal to own a katana in Australia?

Rules vary between states and territories. Our guide to katana laws in Australia covers what applies where, so read it before you buy if unsure.

Can I use it for cutting practice?

Treat it as a collector's piece: display, cosplay and non-contact practice are what it is built for, whichever edge option you choose.
