Handcrafted to Order
Your unique katana will be ready in 3-4 weeks
Turn a Damascus blade under the light and the steel tells you how it was made. The Spring Katana wears a Grilled Gold pattern: layer upon layer of folded steel rippling in warm tones down the blade, so no two angles look quite the same. It sits in our katana collection as proof of what layered steel looks like in hand.
What the Grilled Gold Pattern Brings
The blade is high-quality carbon steel worked into a Damascus finish and mounted over a full tang, for a solid, one-piece feel from tip to kashira. Sharpening is optional and set by the variant you choose, which keeps the katana suited to display, cosplay and non-contact practice alike.
Numbers That Matter
- Overall length: 105 cm (41 in)
- Blade length: 72 cm (28 in)
- Blade width: 3.2 cm (1.2 in)
- Blade thickness: 0.7 cm (0.27 in)
- Handle: 30 cm (11.8 in), cotton ito over synthetic rayskin
- Fittings: iron tsuba with cotton sageo
- Construction: full tang carbon steel, sharpening optional by variant
Why Spring?
The design honours the turn of the season: sakura opening after winter, stillness giving way to movement. The gold banding plays the part of early light on new blossoms, while the restrained iron fittings keep your eye on the blade. It reads calm on a stand and comes alive the moment it moves.
Forged for Your Order in Longquan
We do not pull this katana off a warehouse shelf. Each one is made to order in our partner workshop in Longquan, China's historic sword-forging town, and takes 5 to 20 business days to build. From there it travels with tracked delivery anywhere in Australia. Import duties or GST can apply on arrival; those charges are set by Australian authorities, not by us. Full details are in our shipping policy.
Two Questions Before You Buy
Is a katana like this legal to own in Australia?
In most states and territories a katana can be owned as a collectable, though the rules differ around the country. Our guide to katana laws in Australia covers each state.
What if gold is not my colour?
Patterned steel comes in cooler palettes too. The Blue Dragon Katana in T10 steel heads the other direction entirely, or you can specify every element yourself with our custom katana service.
