Some katana are forged to catch the light. This one swallows it. The Black Blade Katana wears a darkened finish over genuine 1060 carbon steel, giving you one unbroken line of black from grip to point on the display stand. Among Australian collectors it has quietly become one of our best sellers.

Real Steel Beneath the Black

The dark colour is not a costume over mystery metal. Underneath sits 1060 carbon steel with full tang construction, meaning the blade steel runs the entire length of the handle instead of stopping at the guard. The 30 cm (11.8 in) tsuka is bound in cotton ito over a synthetic rayskin base, a matching cotton sageo completes the fittings, and a plain iron tsuba keeps the silhouette strict and clean.

Made to Order for Australian Collectors

Every order starts a fresh build at our partner forge in Longquan, a city with a long swordsmithing heritage. The smiths take 5 to 20 business days to shape and assemble the piece, and from there it travels with tracked delivery to any Australian address. Depending on the shipment, Australian authorities may add GST or customs duties at the border; those fees sit outside our control. Full terms live in our shipping policy.

If Dark Blades Are Your Thing

The Black Blade belongs to our mid-range collection. Collectors chasing more blackened steel often pair it with the Black Enma Katana, while the Akita Katana offers a different personality built on the same 1060 steel.

Straight Answers

How soon can it be on my wall?

The build itself takes 5 to 20 business days, since nothing here is pre-made. Once dispatched, tracked shipping carries it to your door and you can follow every step.

Is it legal in my state or territory?

Sword rules are not uniform across Australia. Check our guide to katana laws in Australia before ordering so you know exactly where you stand.
